The deal, in plain words.
Effective 22 August 2026 · KRC Designs LLC, Sarasota, Florida
Using NatureFlare means you accept what follows. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
1. Who you are dealing with
NatureFlare is operated by KRC Designs LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we", "us"). "NatureFlare" means the website at natureflare.app, the web application, and the curated data inside it. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Park Service or any government agency.
2. Read this part even if you skip the rest
NatureFlare plans photographs. It does not keep you safe. Every place it describes is outdoors, and some of them are genuinely dangerous. Cliff edges, cold water, thin air, loose rock, lightning, flash floods, hypothermia, and animals that will hurt you if you approach them. You are the only person responsible for deciding whether to walk in, whether to stay, and whether to turn around.
Trail distances, times, difficulty ratings, road status, permit rules, closures, fees and conditions change — sometimes overnight, sometimes for a whole season. Verify current conditions with the National Park Service and local authorities before every trip. A number in this app is a planning aid, never an authorisation to proceed.
Do not rely on NatureFlare for navigation, emergency communication, or as your only source of route information. Carry a map, tell someone where you are going, and assume no signal.
3. What you get
A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use NatureFlare for your own photography. The free tier is free and stays useful. There is one paid tier, and it contains everything — nothing is held back for a higher plan:
| Tier | Price | Term | What it opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No time limit | Sun and golden hour anywhere, the Light tab in full, field log to ten entries |
| Parks | $39 | One year, renewing | Curated photo spots, trails and permits; moon phase, rise and the darkest window; unlimited field log; your own patterns; every new park as it lands |
| Parks Lifetime | $79 | One payment — see section 6 | The same, without renewal |
If you hold a legacy Light licence from before 22 August 2026, it now grants exactly what Parks grants, for the remainder of its term. You lose nothing by the consolidation.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply where you live. We may change prices for future purchases and renewals; a change never applies retroactively to a term you have already paid for.
4. Accuracy — what we promise and what we don't
The curated content is researched and checked by hand, from National Park Service sources, published trail data, astronomical calculation and a great deal of reading. Where our confidence in a detail is low, the entry says so rather than inventing a number. That is a real standard and we hold ourselves to it.
It is not a guarantee. Sun and moon times are computed and reliable; almost everything else describes a world that changes. NatureFlare is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. Weather, light, wildlife and access conditions are forecasts and observations, not commitments.
5. Billing, renewal and cancellation
Payment is processed by Stripe; their terms apply to the transaction itself. Annual tiers renew automatically on the anniversary of purchase unless you cancel first. Cancel any time and you keep access until the end of the term you paid for — we do not cut you off early and we do not pro-rate a partial year.
To cancel or to change a card, use the link in your Stripe receipt, or write to [email protected] and we will handle it.
6. What "lifetime" means
It means one payment, no renewal, for as long as NatureFlare exists — not a year, not "until we change our minds". We think that promise is worth making only if we say honestly what happens if the product ends: if NatureFlare shuts down, lifetime access ends with it. In that event we will give at least 90 days' notice and make the curated data you paid for available as a download you can keep. A lifetime licence is personal and cannot be sold or transferred.
7. Refunds
If NatureFlare is not what you expected, write to [email protected] within 30 days of purchase and we will refund it in full. You do not have to justify it. Beyond 30 days, ask anyway — if something is broken or was misrepresented, we would rather refund you than keep the money.
8. What you may not do
- Copy, scrape, export or republish the curated location data in bulk, or use it to build a competing product or dataset. Individual entries used to plan and shoot your own photographs are exactly what it is for.
- Share, resell or sublicense your access, or use one licence across an organisation.
- Automate access in a way that burdens the service, or attempt to bypass paid gates.
- Use NatureFlare to break the law or park regulations — including approaching wildlife inside legal distances, flying a drone where 36 CFR 1.5 prohibits it, entering closed areas, or filming commercially without the required permit.
9. Your field log and your photographs
Your field log lives in your own browser and never reaches us — see the privacy policy. It is yours. Your photographs are yours; we claim no right to anything you shoot with our help, and we will never ask you to license us your work as a condition of using the app.
10. Our content and the photographs on this site
The NatureFlare name, mark, design, written entries and curated dataset are our intellectual property. Photographs shown in the app and on this site are public-domain or Creative Commons Attribution works from Wikimedia Commons and the National Park Service, credited to their creators in the app and in the project's credits file. We deliberately do not use share-alike licensed images in a paid product. If you believe an image is credited incorrectly or used outside its licence, tell us and we will correct or remove it promptly.
11. Availability
We aim to keep NatureFlare running and current, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Hosting, maintenance and third-party outages happen. Nothing here creates a service-level commitment.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss, delay or missed photograph arising from your use of NatureFlare. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; where that is so, they apply only as far as permitted, and nothing here limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
13. Ending it
You may stop using NatureFlare at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken — in which case we will refund the unused portion of a paid term unless the breach was fraud.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change them, the new version and its effective date appear here. If a change materially reduces what you get, we will say so at the top of the page rather than editing quietly, and it will not apply to a term you have already paid for.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts sitting in Sarasota County, Florida — though we would much rather you emailed us first, and we will genuinely try to fix it.
